I'm in a Book!

I was so excited to recieve my copy of the book A Dozen Roses by Jennifer Rounds and Catherine Comyns in the mail yesterday. The first quilt in the book is one I designed and machine quilted. Catherine did the piecing and picked some beautiful fabrics. There is just something so thrilling about seeing your name in a book.

Birthday Bash

Last night there was a birthday party at Fibers In Motion celebrating 5 years in business. It's a wonderful quilt shop, very unique and all of us customers are very grateful to LuAnn for keeping it going. Good friends, good food, good fabric, what else could a woman ask for!

new quilt design

I've been intrigued by this pattern that I saw in an old book I have called 1001 Patchwork Designs by Maggi Malone. It was published in 1982 so that tells you how long I've been quilting. (You can actually find it on Amazon used) Anyway, it's called Merry Go Round III and it's really cool looking. Totally plays into my love of circles except it's not really a circle. I was thinking maybe it could be a class even though the piecing will be challenging. But I couldn't come up with any fabrics that excited me until I came across this old piece that was crammed on my bottom shelf. I love this print!

So then I cut it up into a bunch of hexagons and started playing on the wall with complementary fabrics. Some will stay and some of them will go; that green with the lighter floral thing is looking weird to me, but overall I'm loving it.
