I’ve been trying to finish a quilt I started about nine months ago. It’s called Late Night TV. Sometimes when I finish a quilt, I know if it needs a border. Lately I haven’t been putting borders on most of my quilts, but this one seems to need one. I auditioned a ton of different fabrics and nothing seemed to work. It’s been driving me crazy. So today when I was visiting two of my quilting buddies, I took along some fabrics to get their opinions. They suggested a combination that I hadn’t tried yet. And I think it’s perfect. Thank you Susan and Jennifer !
Here is the middle of the quilt:
Here is the center with the inner and outer border.
Both of the fabrics are odd ones that wouldn’t have been my first choices. The brown outer fabric was given to me by someone. I have seven yards of it and cannot remember where it came from.
The inner border fabric I bought at some thrift store years ago. It’s got a bark cloth like texture.
I’m going to cut out one of the stripes and use it. Here is a close up.
What do you think?

That looks amazing!
Hi, Lee, I like the border suggestions by your friends. The stripe adds that little spark and detail and pulls the brighter salmony color out from the quilt. And the brown makes it look like a wood frame from far away. Nicely done, friends of Lee.
