Rick and I took two days and headed out to the beach. There is a wonderful Fiber Arts exhibit right now at the Coos Bay Art Museum. The museum has three different exhibits going on and all were wonderful. Here is the postcard from the show. The main show consists of quilts from the Studio Art Quilt Associaties and is called Icons & Imagery. The show was curated by Jeanette DeNicolis Meyer. The show in the second gallery is called STITCH; an exhibition consisting of five Oregon fiber artists who met while working on the London City and Guilds Certifications in Embroidery and Design. The show in the third gallery is called New Focus, Art Quilts in Small Format and was curated by Judy Dales and Kim Ritter. The exhibit runs through Feb 21st and is well worth the trip.
Here is one shot of the main gallery. I pulled it off the Coos Bay Art Museum website.
Coos Bay is kind of a sad town so we headed north up the coast to Florence to stay at the Edwin K. Bed & Breakfast. We’ve stayed there once before and it’s really great. The house was originally built in 1914 and has been lovingly restored. We stayed upstairs in the Fall room.
The owners are Marv and Laurie and they are wonderful. Marv used to be in the restaurant business and cooks an amazing breakfast. We didn’t have to eat again until 5 o’clock. This is the breakfast table. The other guests were fun, lots of great conversation.
After leaving the B & B, we headed up to Cape Perpetua. The Oregon coast is so beautiful and Cape Perpetua offered some amazing views. We hiked up to the West Shelter which was built in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Rick took a bunch of pictures and when he processes them, I’ll post some. He is a much better photographer than me, especially since I’m using a point and shoot. I really like to walk in the woods. It always makes me feel so peaceful. And it’s nearly impossible to capture that on film. But that doesn’t stop me from trying.
This is on the way from the Devil’s Churn to the Spouting Horn.
Here’s the hubby doing what he loves.

Nice photos. Rick will have a tough time topping your woods pics.
Thanks Xan, I try. See you soon.
I love the pictures. My husband is from Oregon. When I went to Portland to meet him, we drove to the beach. The only time I’ve been to the Pacific. I saw a pic of your first sock. Pls try the Magic Loop method. I am taking a class now and it is wonderful. I found your site because of the quilt – Round Division. It is great! From your site it appears someone near and dear to you, if not you had(?)/ has cancer. I am a breast cancer survivor. Six weeks after that diagnosis, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Like, I said I am a breast cancer survivor, I try to manage with fibromyalgia every day. I took my sewing machine to college with me – I was a math and computer science major. Love your work. Best wishes!
Thanks Susan for the comments. I don’t find too many math and science majors in my classes, interesting!
