Yesterday I went to the first ever Sock Summit held here in Portland at the Convention Center. Who knew there could be so much commerce relating to knitting socks! It was amazing. Tons of vendors, demonstrations, classes, lectures and a Sock Hop. None of us in my knit group got into the classes; the organisers of the event had a much greater response than they anticipated. But no matter, going to the market place was great fun if a bit hard on the pocketbook.
I love the afghan on the back wall of this booth. It is made from leftover bits of sock yarn.
There was so much yarn there, alot of it hand dyed. My favorite booth was the Goth Socks which had wonderful hand dyed yarn in very urban goth colors. I got a skein to make socks for Liza.
Here is Susan trying to decide which color way to buy to make a scarf. She eventually bought the one on the right and is looking pretty happy about it.
All the colors and textures were just hard to resist. Here is roving for felting.
And I thought this display was very clever and adorable. Each lollipop knitted up into a little baby sock. How cute! This was at a booth called Lollipop Cabin.
