knit projects

I’ve been totally obsessed with knitting lately. Maybe because it’s winter, maybe because quilting has been work for so long, whatever, it’s fun. I promised Liza a pair of handmade socks for Christmas and I’m diligently working on those. She goes back to Boston on January 19th and I want to have them finished for her to take back.

I got the yarn at the sock summit this summer from a booth called Goth Socks. Her blog is Rainy Days and Wooly Dogs. There is also a group on ravelry called goth socks groupies.

Besides Liza’s socks, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of making this crocheted Hexagon afghan from Attic 24.

How can one resist this wonderful rainbow of color? I know I shouldn’t but I’m going to make it anyway. I’ve never done an afghan before because buying all that yarn is so expensive, especially if you want lots of different colors.  So I’ve convinced 4 other woman to do this project  and we will split all the skiens into 5 smaller balls. That way I could buy 15 different colors! Happy Knits had their first sale this past weekend so it was a perfect opportunity to buy all the yarn. I love it when a plan comes together.

This is all the yarn. It makes me happy just looking at it.
