Oh Lee, this is so cute – & what great memories! I like the idea of a shadow box too. I finally got several of my mother’s similar pieces of sewing memorabilia mounted in shadow boxes & now I get to enjoy them every time I walk into my sewing room. I’m so glad I did it that I hav4 four of them now!

I have something very similar that I made about that age too. I made a little pillow for a chair that ties to the legs. Maybe set the block as a center for a medallion quilt?

I have also seen people stretch pieces like this over a little wooden frame and that was a nice way to show off the piece. I think it would be fun though to incorporate it into something new and have the contrast but use it as the focus. So very sweet! My mom taught me everything I know too and ironing she is a pro!
